Looking ahead to this year’s event, the Winlock Lions Club Egg Day Committee lays plans for the 77th Annual Egg Days.

"The Great Eggscape" will be happening June 21, 22 and 23 in picturesque downtown Winlock, Wash. Come celebrate the hometown fun. Bring along family and friends to watch the parade, enjoy a free egg salad sandwich and explore one of Southwest Washington’s small town gems.

Winlock Egg Days begins with the Friday night coronation of the Queen at 7 p.m. in the Winlock Middle School gymnasium. This event always features some amazing local talent and a lot of door prizes. Court members sell buttons prior to the event; each button counts as one entry into the grand prize category. Last year’s grand prize was a free condominium for one week in Hawaii.

Saturday begins early and those stomachs are grumbling. The American Legion and the Winlock Senior Center offer $5 breakfasts fit for an egg farmer. They are both just a block away from the parade route. The parade starts at 11 a.m., so park early and set up those lawn chairs. The grand marshals for the 77th Annual event are Raleigh and Pam Stone, owners of our local IGA and enthusiastic supporters of many of our community organizations.

Nestled in right along the tracks, it is hard to miss the sparkle and gleam of the car show. Grab a burger and wander through memory lane. Cast a vote for spectators’ favorite and watch as the many trophies are awarded.

Down at the elementary school, right after the parade, it’s time to grab a free egg salad sandwich in the cafeteria. Enjoy the activities offered by Party Outfitters of Olympia. Climb the rock wall, jump in the bounce house or ride the mechanical bull, then wander through vendors’ booths for some one of a kind items. Close down the Saturday festivities at the street dance in the center of town beginning at 9 pm.

Sunday wraps up the three-day event. Wander through the streets to visit the vendors one last time, play at the Party Outfitters event or watch the Dog Show in the elementary school gym. Then turn on your phone, bring up your calendar and enter in Winlock Egg Days for next year’s visit. Winlock Egg Days is always the fourth weekend in June.
