Winlock 11.6.13

Leinali Beck

Well, it’s here! The Winlock United Methodist Church’s famous holiday luncheon is all set for Thursday, Nov. 7, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Their traditional turkey-stuffing casserole will be served with cranberry sauce, bread, green beans, and angel food cake with peppermint cool whip. There is a suggested donation of $7. A bazaar as well as a bake sale will be taking place that same day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Evaline Elementary will be taking orders for their wreath, centerpiece, and garland arrangements until Friday, November 15th. If you’re interested in learning more, please contact the school at 785-3460. Also, they are having parent-teacher conferences on the week of November 4th through the 8th, so each day will be early release. There is no school on Monday, Nov. 11, in honor of Veterans Day.

The Olequa Senior Center will be running their Potato Bar on Friday, Nov. 8, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. There are always plenty of choice toppings for their baked potatoes, plus dessert and drinks. The cost is $7 ($5 for kids).

This month’s Colonial Residence lunch at the senior center has been moved up a week to Thursday, Nov. 14 at noon. Please call 785-4325 to make your reservation right away. The meal is free, although they do accept donations.

The senior center is currently taking reservations for the Olequa’s Senior Thanksgiving Holiday Banquet, which is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 21. The meal will be a traditional holiday dinner with all the trimmings. Their doors will open at 4 p.m. Please call the senior center at 785-4325 to make your reservation.

As for the senior center’s Holiday Bazaar, there are still a few tables available for rent by potential vendors. However, I’ve been informed that they’re disappearing fast, so contact them quickly. It costs $12 to rent a table. The bazaar is all set for Saturday, Nov. 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Winlock Timberland Library will be hosting Youth PageTurners on Friday, Nov. 8, at 3:30 p.m. Children from grades 4 through 6 are invited to a lively book discussion, complete with snacks. This month’s title is “A Wrinkle in Time” by Madeleine L’Engle.
