Pilots Association Meets

First Wednesday Monthly

The Willapa Harbor Pilots Association (WHPA) meets the first Wednesday of each month at 5 p.m. The group welcomes new members to its meetings. For location of the next meeting call 942-7899.

American Legion Potluck

The American Legion Raymond Post # 150 meets the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 7 p.m. A potluck dinner, beginning at 6:15 p.m. precedes the first meeting. The legion auxiliary also meets at 7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month.

Lewis-Pacific Swiss

Society Board

The Lewis-Pacific Swiss Society Board of Directors to meet at the Swiss Hall every second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. Members are welcome to attend.

Yoga at DSHS

Integral Hatha Yoga meets Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at the DSHS building in South Bend. Classes for Beginners + are from 10:30-11:45 on Monday and Wednesday and 9-10:15 Saturday. Square Dancing Lessons

Swing her 'round and 'round! New square dance lessons are being held on Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the Willapa Valley Grange at 290 Camp One Road, Raymond. All ages are welcome and you don't need to bring a partner. The cost is only $2 per person, per Thursday night. Come join us for fun and exercise while learning to do-si-do! The Habitat for Humanity of Willapa Harbor Board of Directors meetings will be on the fourth Thursday of the month; Meetings take place on Thursdays at the offices of Elizabeth Penoyar, located at 504 W. Robert Bush Drive in South Bend. The meeting starts at 7 p.m.

P.O.O.L. conducts monthly meetings on the fourth Thursday each month at 5 p.m. at Raymond City Hall. Anyone interested in the operation of the Dr. O. R. Nevitt Swimming Pool is invited to attend.

Gavel Masonic Lodge #48

Neighborhood Watch

Neighborhood Watch meets at 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at Janine Saul's home. Please call 942-5358 for directions. Everyone interested in establishing a Neighborhood Watch in his or her area is encouraged to attend. Change begins in and near our homes, so please join us as we strive to create safer neighborhoods.

South Bend Head Start

The South Bend Head Start Preschool Monthly Enrollment Meeting takes place on the fourth Tuesday and Thursday of Every Month at 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the South Bend Head Start Preschool. The Willapa Harbor Ministerial Association Food Bank, located on the corner of Larch Street and Park Avenue in Raymond, is generally open to serve those in need every Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Commodities are offered at the beginning of the month while supplies last. The Public Market on the Willapa now features locally grown native and eatable landscaping plants, bedding plants and trees, a line or organic and conventional seeds and seedlings, selected for our local climate. There is also farm fresh seasonal produce. Also available year-round is local farm fresh eggs, gourmet jams, jellies, honey, dips, dressings, seafood products, baked goodies, coffee products and other condiments. There is also creative jewelry with special orders welcomed, garden art, photography, clothing, hats and quillows, birdhouses, pottery, goat milk soap, hand woven items, and woodcraft. Free travel information is available. Watch for our upcoming Spring Event.

SATURDAY

Chainsaw Safety Class

Firewood enthusiasts, mark your calendars for Saturday, September 27th, as that's when Harold Strozyk, longtime logger and Raymond resident, will conduct a chainsaw safety class on his property at 386 South Fork Road. This is a non-alcoholic, potluck event, so bring your favorite dish and be prepared to learn the safe method for operating your chainsaw. Bring along a chair if you'd like to sit; this class will be conducted in the woods near Harold's home. All silver and dishware provided, and a porta potty will be on-site. Breast Cancer Awareness Brunch

The Willapa Harbor Health Foundation will host a Celebrate Life, Power in Pink Champagne Brunch with a Breast Cancer Awareness Brunch at the Willapa Harbor Community Center in South Bend on Saturday, October 11 from 11 am-2 pm. Tickets are $10. There will be motivational speakers, music, raffles, prizes, etc.

The Willapa Harbor Chamber of Commerce meets once a month on the second Monday of every month at noon at the Willapa Harbor Community Center, located at First and Alder Streets, in South Bend. Chamber members, business owners and civic groups are urged to attend these meetings and contribute to the growing economy of the Willapa Harbor area.

for Seniors

The Senior Legal Assistance Clinic (SLAC) meets the third Monday each month between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Offered are free 30-minute sessions with an attorney for clients 60 years or older. Appointments must be scheduled in advance. Call Information & Assistance at 942-2177.

Church of Raymond

The United Church of Raymond has a free supper of soup and breads on the third Tuesday of each month, from 5-7 p.m. The supper is for anyone in our community. If you need transportation, please call the church office and leave the message with your name and address.

The local chapter of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meets every Tuesday morning at New Life on Commercial St. in Raymond. "Baby Play Group"

The "Baby Play Group" for babies under 2 and their caregivers takes place on Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. at the Raymond Timberland Library. Socialize with other babies and their caregivers and share games and activities that help babies learn. It is free and will meet every Tuesday through July. For more information call 942-2408.

Bible Services
