The Lewis County "Walk and Knock" will take place this Saturday, December 1 beginning at 10:00 a.m. This is the largest food drive in our area and an important part of our local food banks.
Winlock, Toledo, and Vader will have their volunteers out in full force in the morning, collecting bags of canned food to keep the food banks open throughout the year. The bags will be delivered in your local community paper, and filled bags should be placed on your front porch by 10:00 a.m. If you have a no trespassing sign, bags can still be placed in front of your gate or you can drop them off at one of the drop off locations.
Drop off locations in the area are Winlock IGA, Winlock Umpqua Bank, and Toledo Market Fresh Grocery Store. If you are a resident of Ryderwood and would like to participate, Shelly Westby said individuals can drop their items off at Vader Assembly of God.
There are 21 routes in Winlock, 5 routes in Vader, and 25 in Toledo. Volunteers include individuals who drive and many students who do the running to get the bags from the porches.
This is a very important event for our community as so many rely on this drive to feed their family throughout the year. They are still in need of volunteers for this weekend so if you have available time, please contact Shelly Westby (360) 749-0275.
If you can participate, please have your bags ready by 10:00 a.m. If you have a dog, please be aware that individuals will be coming by to pick up your donated food items.
