Willapa Valley won a defensive struggle over Raymond 42-33 at Tenoski Gym in Menlo Saturday night.
Stephen Camenzind paced WVHS in scoring with 12 points and 9 rebounds.
The Seagulls led 13-11 after one quarter but were held to 20 points the rest of the way. Valley was ahead by two at halftime (21-19). The Vikes won the third quarter (10-9) and the final eight minutes (8-5).
Matt Konigsberger tallied 11 points and Cody Buchanan added 8 for the winners.
The Vikings were guilty of only 7 turnovers.
Willapa Valley 55, NW Christian 41
Camenzind came through with 19 points and 9 boards to help deliver a 55-41 road win last Monday (Dec. 9) at Lacey.
Konigsberger scored 9, grabbed 9 rebounds and handed out 5 assists. Hunter Gray added 8 points and 4 assists.
Valley's biggest lead was 21 points in the fourth quarter.
Vikings 58, Montesano 41
The Vikings downed visiting Montesano 58-41 on December 6. Anthony Sagen scored 14 points to lead Valley.
“We played really good defense,” Coach Peterson said.
Camenzind netted 11 points and Kyler Oblad added 10. Konigsberger shot in 9 points, clawed down 8 boards and made 4 thefts.
Valley outscored Monte 20-12 in the second quarter to set the win in motion.
“We got some things in transistion in the second quarter and it got our motor running,” Peterson added.
The Bulldogs dipped to 5-5 with the loss.
Valley (9-3, 4-1) hosted South Bend last night. Naselle visits Menlo Friday and the Vikings host Adna for a non-league game Monday.
