Increased BSNF traffic will commence for Amtrak Service from Seattle to Portland plus northbound coal cars if and when the shipping port north of Seattle is approved. This will mean an extra 25% rail traffic. At present, modifications to the tracks are under way. Make sure you have plenty of time for train crossings as some are 100-cars plus in length! More than ever, those living within one mile of the tracks should be aware of HAZMAT situations and how to handle them.
CERT Classes will begin April 12-14 at the Vader Assembly of God Church. They are free and an opportunity to learn what to do in case of a HAZMAT situation. Call Liz (360-200-5909) to sign up.
Ross McDowell, who coordinates disaster response for the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, was instrumental in securing ham radios for the surrounding communities to use in case of an emergency. Vader's will be kept at City Hall.
Assembly of God Food giveaway will be this Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon, outside the Vader Post Office. What a wonderful gift this has been for our community. Thank you, Assembly of God!
