Toledo’s Fire District 2 celebrates outstanding emergency responders

Lewis County Fire District 2 celebrated the outstanding achievements of firefighters and EMS staff during their annual awards dinner Saturday night. Above: the six volunteers who responded to the most emergency calls out of 414 during 2012. (back row, left to right) Nick Delin, with 220 calls, Caleb Thomas, with 159 calls, Jim Groebner, with 223 calls, Lew Forester, with 124 calls, Shannon Summers, with 199 calls and Mike Thomas (front) with 109 calls. Each received a t-shirt with their name and the number of calls they responded to during the year.

Caleb Thomas (left) receives the award for Firefighter of the year from Wiltbank (right). “We go to some pretty dramatic events,” said Wiltbank of emergency calls the district may receive throughout the year, stating many lives have been saved due to the efforts of well-trained and dedicated volunteers.
