Toledo Fire Chief Michael Dorothy showing off the new ambulance purchased in early 2018.
Chief of the Toledo Fire and EMS Department Mike Dorothy, whose family has lived in the area for many decades, is definitely not new to the area. "I live in the Toledo Fire District, I have been a volunteer for 25 years, 15 of those years I was Assistant Chief and when the position for Chief came open I applied," he stated.
There is no doubt he loves his job; you can see it in his face when you talk to him. "I love everything about my job, helping other people. As chief there is more administrative work which I have learned some and I am still learning more. I've been able to meet more in the community including business owners and individuals,' he continued. He and his crew are there in most cases at people's worst time and it obvious he enjoys helping those in need. He is just that kind of guy.
They were able to purchase a new ambulance in early 2018 and it has been busy since the day they received it. With Cheese Days comes a very busy fire station. We are wanting to have an open house so people can come and learn more of what we do and answer their questions. The open house is after the parade until 3:00 p.m. with a variety of safety information, games for the kids and Ice Cream and supplies until they last.
The majority of the fire department will be on hand to answer any and all questions,' stated Dorothy.
Mike, his wife Tammy live in the district. They have 2 daughters, Brittany and Katelyn and 6 grandchildren. Toledo is in good hands with Mike at the helm. He looks forward to seeing everyone at Cheese Days this year.
