This weekend is it. Ryderwood's twice yearly Town-Wide Garage Sale weekend is this Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Residents having private sales can put their addresses on Map sign-up sheets located at the Library, Café, Community Hall or RISA office. Maps will be available at or near the same locations. I've been asked to mention a couple of out-of-town sales: one will be on Allender Rd. (first farm on the left) and the other on 506 just as you come into town.
The Women's Club Super Sale at Pioneer Hall is a big fund-raiser for the organization. All proceeds go for the maintenance and upkeep of the historic building, which was the logging town's First Aid Station. Donations are accepted most mornings until the Sale begins - please don't leave anything on the porch.
Instead of a sit-down dinner on Friday night after the Garage Sales, the Café will serve Club Sandwiches (I think that's what Linda said!) from 4 to 6 p.m. That means no reservations are needed.
Sunday evening is another round of Card Bingo at 6:30 pm in Community Hall. The only thing needed is one deck of cards for each table of 4 and a collection of coins from the piggy bank. Four nickels, five dimes, four quarters and a dollar are the most it can cost to play and some get to go home with more than they brought.
Beginning Monday September 21, the Area Agency on Aging & Disabilities (SWAAD) will begin a 6-week program in Ryderwood entitled "Living Well with Chronic Conditions". It is designed for individuals who have or are caring for individuals with various chronic conditions, such as: Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Heart Disease, Stroke, Parkinson's, MS, Diabetes, Depression, Anxiety, etc. Sessions will cover everything from nutrition and exercise to how to communicate with family, friends and health care professionals. The sessions are scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to Noon in Community Hall. Contact Kelli Sweet of SWAAD at (360) 577-4929 for information.
Reminders: Ryderwood Town-Wide Garage Sales, August 28-29; ARTrails comes to Ryderwood, 3rd & 4th weekends of September; Register to vote before October 5th.
