This looks to be a pretty busy week, activity-wise. For the ladies, Wednesday is the Women's Club monthly luncheon meeting at noon in Pioneer Hall. It is their annual Baked Potato lunch, so members bring toppings to share. All ladies in and around town are invited. Then on Thursday, the Red Hat ladies Gather at 2 p.m. in Pioneer Hall. Among other things, they will plan for their monthly Outing on the 25th.
Friday night's Dinner at the Café, brought to you by the volunteers of the Ryderwood Social Club, will be Ronda's Fried Chicken Dinner which includes beverage, salad, side dishes and dessert - a bargain for $10. Call Linda at 295-0875 by Wednesday to make reservations. Dinner is served at 5 p.m.
I was mistaken last week when I said there was Card Bingo last Sunday. Instead, it is this week at 6:30 p.m. at the Café. The name of the game says it all: it's Bingo played with Cards. It requires zero skill and costs a maximum of $2.70 for an evening of fun. The more folks that play, the more the winners can take home with them.
Karaoke will follow Burgers & Soup at the Café on Monday. Food is served from 4-6 p.m. with Karaoke starting about 6:30. Burger choices include beef (1/3-pound), chicken or veggie burgers and mostly homemade soup.
Tuesday's Senior Lunch on Tuesday February 16th will be: Turkey Tetrazzini, Broccoli Normandy and Tossed Salad. The meals are served hot at noon in Ryderwood in Community Hall's Dining Room. They are prepared in CAP's "Grounds for Opportunity" Training Kitchen and Café next to the train station in Kelso. Please call 295-3813 by 3 p.m. on Monday to make or break reservations. The complete meals are $3 if over 60, $5 for others.
The response to the Ryderwood History Project's request for information is keeping the group busy. For readers who have asked how to obtain the 1926 Long-Bell movie, contact the Cowlitz County Historical Museum at (360) 577-3119. They are located at 405 Allen St. in Kelso. Also the RHP page on ryderwood.org now has printable survey forms. In the offing, is the Annual Old-Timers Picnic that is always held the last Sunday in August, which will be the 28th this year. Put it on your calendars.
The next "Living Well with Chronic Conditions" Workshop will start on Tuesday May 17th. Anyone wishing to participate in the next workshop should call (360) 577-4929to pre-register. There is no charge for the Workshops, but class size is limited. Feedback from participants has been very positive.
