I'm pretty sure I've never seen so many folks in town as there was this past weekend. The Craft Fair over-flowed into the foyer with vendors and the selection was over the top. Thank you, artists and crafters, for making the event such a success. The Quilt Show was a beautiful touch and the selection was fantastic. Thanks to everyone who contributed so much to the weekend, not the least of who was the crew that served lunch both days.
The Red Hat Ladies have an Outing scheduled for this Thursday, though I haven't heard what the destination will be. Call Michele at (360) 295-0899 for info. All ladies are invited to deck out in the red and purple for an afternoon of "all play and no work".
The weekend has Open Mic at the Café on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. and Ice Cream Social w/ Card Bingo on Sunday in Community Hall. Cake and ice cream are served at 6 p.m. with Card Bingo starting about 6:30 p.m. It's a great way to exchange coins with friends and neighbors. Lew of the AMVETS reports the donations from this event have contributed quite a bit towards the "beautification fund" that they maintain.
Speaking of the AMVETS, they have their meeting on Monday at 11 a.m. Following that meeting, VFW Post 7010 meets at 11:30. While the two groups are technically separate, they work together as a single unit. Some of our veterans are members of both groups. The groups do so much for the town, including recently replacing the stoves in Community Hall's kitchen.
Coffee Stops are going on for the next two weeks in both the northbound and the southbound Rest Areas. I'm not sure all shifts are filled for next week so contact Sharon at (360) 353-8745 or Terry at (360) 747-0035 if you have any time to spare next week. This is Halloween week, which can be a lot of fun. And don't forget the cookies.
Friday night's menu at the Café will be Homemade Meatloaf with all the trimmings. The meals are served at 5 p.m. and are always all-inclusive from beverage and salad to dessert. Call Linda at (360) 295-0875 by Wednesday to make reservations. The menu for Senior Nutrition Lunch on Tuesday, Oct. 21, will be Clam Chowder and Half Turkey Sandwich. Call Jan at (360) 295-0597 by 6 p.m. on Monday to make reservations.
