This week’s events include: A Firewise Mtg. on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in Community Hall to plan this year’s community event; Friday night’s Café dinner will be Jan’s Turkey Tetrazzini – call Linda at 295-0875 ASAP to make reservations; the Social Club annual Picnic Potluck at the Park on Saturday the 20th starting at 5 p.m. - $2 annual Dues are now due; the next Ice Cream Social and Card Bingo on Sunday evening starting at 6 p.m. in Community Hall; Ryderwood’s VFW Post 7010 meets on Monday the 22nd at 11:30 a.m. in Community Hall; next Tuesday’s Nutrition Lunch entrée will be Beef Stroganoff with all the trimmings.
CAP needs increased attendance at these meals in order to justify the expenses incurred providing the service. Food waste is one of the biggest expenses, so call Jan at 295-0597 to make or break reservations. Please note: the delivery of frozen Meals-On-Wheels is totally dependent upon the hot meal delivery – if “Nutrition Lunch” goes away, so will Meals-On-Wheels.
The Women’s Club just completed a profitable Coffee Stop. Meanwhile the Church, RCCT, VFW and Social Club all have ones coming up between now and the end of summer. This time of year draws a lot of travelers meaning the more homemade cookies the better. These events bring in funds from beyond the community, which is helpful to all the groups who participate.
A very special event will be in Ryderwood on September 15th: “Wrinkles of Washington” (aka WOW) will perform at the 6th Annual Ryderwood Variety Show at 3 p.m. in Community Hall’s lovely Auditorium. Previous shows showcased local talent and raised funds that covered some expenses of upgrading the Auditorium. This year’s ticket sales will bring this incredible group of Senior entertainers to Ryderwood. They do it all! Tickets will go on sale in August.
