The longest day of the year (the Summer Solstice) was last weekend. For the next six months, every day will get a little bit shorter. Unfortunately, the summer is predicted to be very dry, significantly increasing the wildfire risk. Please be very cautious. The town has taken on the duty of mowing untended properties, which provides an important service for the Town.
A good time was had by all at last Saturday's Second Annual Ryderwood Sock Hop. Local DJ, Steve Smith, played a variety memorable tunes that had us dancing or, at least, actively tapping our toes. Proceeds from the Raffle were donated to the Café.
Here's what's happening this week out here at the end of SR 506. Visitors are invited to participate.
The Tea-Hee Red Hats will host their annual High Tea on Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. in Community Hall. Ladies are invited to dress up in red and purple to enjoy an afternoon of female fun, folly and frivolity.
Friday's Café dinner will be Andy's Lasagna Dinner. The meals are served at 5 p.m. and include beverage, salad, side dishes and dessert for the price of $9. Contact Linda at 295-0875 by 6 p.m. on Wednesday to make or break reservations.
Saturday evening is Game Night at the Café. Starting at 7 p.m., there are multiple tables playing Pinochle, 5 Crown, Backgammon and more. Some folks bring a little something to snack on, too.
Every Monday, the Social Club serves Burgers and Soup at the Café from 4-6 p.m. Karaoke is on the schedule this week at 6:30 p.m. The Senior Nutrition lunch on Tuesday the 30th will be Apricot Chicken with orzo with spinach and more. Call 295-3813 before 6 p.m. the preceding Monday to make or break reservations.
Looking forward to the 4th of July festivities next weekend. Just so readers know, there will be no Town Breakfast on the Saturday the 4th. The guys will be busy enough that day with the BBQ and picnic at noon. Until next week...
