After visiting family in Mississippi, it was pleasant to see so many blooming (or getting-ready-to-do-so) things when I returned. It was fairly cool and cloudy there, so a couple of days of bright PNW sunshine were welcome. Rain is expected to arrive shortly…
It wasn’t steamy in Mississippi, yet – something to avoid, if possible – but humidity in the house made my hair curlier. It’s hard to explain to an easterner why the interiors of our homes and buildings are so dry (unless there’s a leak…) when it rains so much. The answer is: our heating season is the same as our wet season. When it’s hot here, it’s mostly dry.
March is remarkable because there are five Saturdays as well as five Sundays. From a community calendar standpoint, it means that the Ice Cream Social slated for Sunday (6 p.m. at Community Hall) will be the third one this month. Try to keep that in mind when looking at April’s calendar.
Speaking of April’s Calendar, Ryderwood’s famous Spring Garage Sales will be held the last Friday and Saturday of the month: April 25 – 26. This is when individuals and groups line the alleys and halls with treasures and goodies of every variety. Given the number of new folks in town and desirable properties for sale, I expect that there will be a fine selection. Does anybody know when the April and August Sales became such a tradition? Jim & Jessie; anyone else out there know any details?
The Red Hat ladies will head out on a luncheon/shopping adventure this Thursday. Call Carol at (360) 295-8307 for details. Denny’s fabulous Spaghetti Dinner is on Friday evening’s Café dinner menu. The meal, which includes everything from salad to dessert, is served at 5 p.m. Call Linda at (360) 295-0875 for reservations.
