Happy February: the shortest month of the year. The first week of the month means the RWCS (Ryderwood Women's Christian Service) ladies will meet this Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Church Annex. The monthly Town Breakfast is on the schedule for this Saturday. This is a major fundraiser for the Veterans' groups here in Town.
The guys serve up an incredible selection of breakfast fare at the best possible prices. There's pancakes, eggs how you like them, ham or sausage and biscuits and country gravy. And this is gravy on steroids - they add generous quantities of sausage! Orange juice and bottomless coffee are always included.
Friday night's dinner at the Café will feature Linda's Tacos (beef, chicken or veggie) and Black Bean Soup. Beverage, Salad and Dessert are always included for $9. Reservations are required and need to be made by 6 p.m. Wednesday - Call Linda at (360) 295-0875.
Monday has burgers and homemade soup at the Café from 4 to 6 p.m. The burgers - beef, chicken or veggie - are cooked to perfection and served with all the trimmings, including grilled onions if desired. The soups are almost always homemade with fresh ingredients. Come out and enjoy!
The Senior Nutrition menu for Tuesday, Feb. 10, is Swiss Steak with Steamed Potatoes and Peas & Carrots. For those over 60 years of age, the requested donation for the meals is $3. Call me at (360) 295-3813 or (360) 355-7315 to make or break reservations. Contact CAP in Longview at (360) 425-3430, ext. 259 for home-delivered frozen Meals On Wheels and Commodities.
All readers and their friends and family are invited to attend all of the above activities.
With gas prices lower than they've been in years, interest in geo-caching seems to be on the rise. There has been a cache here (ryder1) for a few years and I'm told that 2 more have been added, ryder2 and ryder3. You can sign up with geocaching.com to follow the reports of visitors.
