Happy middle of January everyone – how gray can it be, anyway? I heard a great saying the other day that speaks to my mood: “I’m at the corner of Pork Place and Bored Walk”. Weather-wise, we haven’t been hit with the snow and frigid temperatures experienced elsewhere, but we did have a power outage with the high winds over the weekend.
I didn’t think it could happen so fast, but the new flooring was installed in the back half of the Café and we didn’t miss a single dinner. The new vinyl laminate floor looks wonderful and will be a breeze to keep clean. The rest of the building will be done after some funds are raised for it.
The Fire District has recently replaced the AEDs (Automatic External Defibrillators) located in the Café and Community Hall. A representative from the company is scheduled for this week’s Town Meeting.
There was a nice group that showed up for the first Backgammon gathering at the Café – presumably, they will return and bring others with them. Backgammon is an ancient game and watching can be an excellent way to learn.
This Saturday is Town Potluck at Community Hall. It starts at 5 p.m. and everyone who wants a great meal is invited to come. There’s always plenty to go around – bring your own table service for a “finer dining experience”. A brief Social Club meeting follows the meal.
Sunday at 6 p.m. is the next Ice Cream Social and Card Bingo at Community Hall. The Card Bingo is played with a deck of cards and is played with nickels, dimes and quarters. Maybe you’ll go home with more coins than you brought.
Reminder: the PO is Closed Monday, Jan. 20, for Martin Luther King, Jr. birthday. Until next week…
