The April 21st massing of bands provided students an opportunity to combine their talents for rehearsal of four pieces, followed by each individual school band performing a featured number. The combined bands ended the day-long event with an evening concert for families and community members.

Bands participating with Raymond included Rochester, Adna, Mossyrock, Onalaska, Tenino, Toledo, Winlock, Ilwaco, Rainier, Oakville, Woodland and Napavine.

Music director Bubnick encourages Raymond residents to clean out their closets by putting band instruments that are collecting dust to good use by donating then to the school district.

In order to make sure every student has the opportunity to be a part of our music program, we need instruments,” Bubnick said. “We will accept any instrument in any condition including flutes, clarinets, trumpets, trombones, saxophones and guitars.”

The school district issues receipts for proof of a tax deductible donation.

Upcoming community events involving the band include Keys on the Willapa, a fundraiser at the Raymond Elks May 10; High School Massed Band Festival in Wahkiakum May 13, Night of the Arts, a junior high and high school band concert May 21; and an elementary spring music concert May 28. Also the bands will perform for the high school graduation ceremony June 7 and at the eighth grade promotion June 9.
