Shortly after 2 a.m. on Jan. 15, Aberdeen officers responded to a firearm complaint at 111 N C Street in Aberdeen. Dispatch advised officers that one gunshot was heard from outside a party at a house at 801 E. 1st Street.
Officers contacted multiple witnesses at the location. Some of them claimed to have heard a gunshot outside, and others claimed that they didn't hear anything. No one would identify the shooter. The reporting party showed officers where the gunshot occurred. The officers on scene observed damage to the sidewalk that appeared to be from the impact of a bullet. A spent shell casing was located in the same area.
Officers also found a small amount of blood at the scene, but learned there was an assault that occurred and believed the blood was a result of the assault. Other Aberdeen officers stopped a vehicle that was reported to be involved. Two male occupants of the vehicle were identified as victims of the assault, but were uncooperative and refused to give statements.
A possible suspect has been identified. The Aberdeen Police Investigations Section is seeking any additional witnesses that are willing to come forward. Those with information are asked to contact Lt. Darst or Det. Perkinson at 360-533-3180 with any information.
