Volunteers are needed immediately or the pool may not open this summer.
The pool is owned by the City of Raymond and operates under the volunteer group People Organized to Operate Leisure Activities (POOL). The volunteer group formed in 1992 and has since worked diligently raising funds to renovate, reopen, and operate the pool.
Many of the same volunteers who created POOL still volunteer in some capacity. The pool has provided invaluable services to our community including swim lessons, water aerobics, and swim team. Additionally, the pool offers many local high school and college students a summer job.
The pool, which is usually open Memorial Day through Labor Day, is currently without the leadership of a president or vice president. Without that leadership and the necessary volunteers to help the pool run efficiently and effectively, the 2014 pool opening will likely be delayed, if it opens at all.
The POOL board wants to offer a chance for community members to step up and help before calling it quits. If you’re interested in joining the board or helping in any capacity, please contact POOL via Facebook or by attending the next POOL meeting on Thursday, May 22nd at 5 p.m. at Raymond City Hall.
