The First Friday of June will be held on Friday, June 3 starting at 5pm, there will be vendors, and businesses will be open later than usual.
The Festival of Colors Kite Festival will be held Saturday, June 4 from 11am to 5pm. There will be free activities, kite making, scavenger hunts and relay races.
Saturday, June 4 is Monte Trails Appreciation Day/National Trails Day, and to celebrate City Forester Loren Hiner is asking for volunteers to join him in sprucing up the city trails at Lake Sylvia State Park. Meet at the kitchen by the beach area at 9am, bring gloves, string trimmers, pruners, hand tools, lunch, and appropriate clothing and boots. Please no pets. We will work until 1pm. The Aberdeen Police Explorer Post will host their first annual golf tournament on Saturday, June 11th. This tournament replaces the APOG Tournament and will cost $55 per person or $220 per team. In 1941, 75 years ago, the first certified tree farm was established in North American at the Clemons Tree Farm, near Montesano Washington. On June 18, 500 to 600 people are expected to attend a celebration at Montesano High School and Lake Sylvia State Park to honor the tree farm. This will be sponsored by the American Tree Farm System.
