On October 11, 2017, members of the Lewis County Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team (JNET) executed a search warrant at 1904 State Route 506, Vader, in rural Lewis County in connection with an ongoing narcotics investigation involving the illegal cultivation/production of marijuana.
As a result of this investigation, JNET seized over 600 marijuana plants and over 50 pounds of processed bud, located in a 4,200 square foot barn, which had been converted into several separate growing rooms. Arrested during the warrant service, in a makeshift bedroom inside of the barn, was Jing Ming Gao, a 55-year old male from Brooklyn, New York. Additional suspects have been identified in this investigation and warrants will be requested for their arrests.
As part of this ongoing investigation, since December 2016, JNET has conducted search warrants at five separate locations throughout Lewis County involving illegal large-scale indoor marijuana growing operations where approximately 6000 plants and hundreds of pounds of processed marihuana has been seized. Aiding in these investigations has been the communication and networking with law enforcement agencies from New York and the East Coast.
