Marijuana Farm Ordinance Passes First Reading

By Geo Kunke

The Raymond City council passed an ordinance on its first reading to rezone the property for a proposed marijuana farm. The vote passed unanimously. The second reading was expected to be voted on at Monday night’s meeting.

Property for the pot farm to process cannabis for legal sale was leased from the Port of Willapa Harbor to Seattle entrepreneur Marcus Charles. It was noted that the marijuana would be sold out of county.

The farm will add revenue to the city’s tax base and Charles has addressed security issues.
