Prior to Memorial Day, it is the hope of the Winlock Cemetery to place flags and crosses on the graves of veterans in honor of the holiday, but the labor to do so is not always available. Recently, local high school students have been dropping by to help with the project, and this year saw students from Winlock and Napavine (pictured) volunteering under the direction of Winlock instructor Hedy Mitchell.
The Cemetery’s Board of Commissioners said they would like to thank the students for their time and consideration, and Mitchell for organizing the volunteers. “We sincerely appreciate all the time they gave to make our cemetery look beautiful for the Memorial Day Weekend,” they said. “The community should be proud of these young people who each year give unselfishly of their time and talent.”
