“It’s time to end the practice of governing by moving from crisis to crisis.  Southwest Washington residents deserve to know that the financial markets won’t get flipped upside down by a default that could devastate the fragile job market in our region.  Seniors and veterans deserve to know Social Security and veterans’ benefits will go out on time.  

“The people we represent elected us to work together and solve problems, not to wage a never-ending partisan fight. I thank Speaker Boehner for bringing a bill to end the shutdown and avoid default to the House floor for a vote. Congress must find a more effective way to fight wasteful spending and provide better health care solutions, and I look forward to working with both parties toward those goals.”
