The Winlock City Council has approved the hiring of Mike Fisher for the position of Public Works Superintendent. Fisher has 19 years experience working for the City of Napavine.
During the city council meeting on Jan. 23 an executive session was called for city council members to ask Fisher questions prior to approving him for the position.
Upon returning to the meeting, council members voted to approve the hiring of Fisher. Council Member White abstained from voting since he knew Fisher personally. The vote was unanimous and Fisher accepted the position.
"I hope he brings his 19 years experience from working with the City of Napavine to Winlock and he does as well for the City of Winlock as he has for Napavine," Mayor Dowell stated.
Dowell further indicated that he is pleased the position has been filled and is looking forward to seeing what he said were the numerous issues that have come to light in the last couple of months addressed.
"I look forward to coming here and being a part of this team," Fisher stated, "watching it grow and helping it grow. It's got a lot of potential. It's a great little city."
