George was elected secretary/treasurer when the club formed in 1988 and served in that capacity until 2013. His 25 years of tireless energy and enthusiasm about everything related to airplanes was a source of motivation for all others in the club. The club members voted unanimously to donate all of the club's 2014 yearly dues to 'Helping Hands of Willapa Harbor' in honor of George.
In other business, the status of the future flying site on Port of Willapa Harbor property was discussed. The site is located on port property on the boulevard between Raymond and South Bend. The club has retained its current site at the eastern end of the airport taxiway until something is certain about the new location.
A discussion of the problems of flying RC airplanes at an active airport was discussed at length. RC airplanes at the present time have a designated flight area to the northwest of the airport and have a flight maximum altitude of no more than 400'. It was agreed to apply all available AMA (Academy of Model Aviation) rules to fly more safely in the future.
Last item on the agenda was election of club officers for 2014. Voted in as President was Ray Thompson, Vice President Dan Borg, Secretary/Treasurer Jim Fulton and Safety Coordinator Mel Kokko.
Anyone with interest in airplanes, either static display models or flying electric and fuel powered planes are encouraged to contact a club member.
