For the week through Friday, March 15

The following Washington State Department of Transportation construction and maintenance projects are expected to have some travel impacts within Pacific County. Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling in these areas and remember to " give 'em a brake " in construction zones.

CONSTRUCTION: US 101 - Bone River Bridge Replacement (mileposts 41.70 to 45.32). Traffic Impacts: Traffic is reduced to a single, alternating lane with a temporary traffic signal.  NOTE: The speed limit on US 101 through the project area is temporarily reduced to 25 mph. This project replaces the Bone River Bridge in Pacific County.

SR 105, Smith Creek and North River - Bridge Replacements (mileposts 6.25 to 13.65)
Traffic Impacts: Monday, March 11 to Friday, March 15: Daytime single lane and shoulder closures with flaggers throughout the project area.

  • NOTE: Traffic will be reduced to a single lane with a temporary singal control across the Smith Creek Bridge 24 hours-per-day.
  • The speed limit has been reduced to 25 mph within project limits.

This project replaces both the Smith Creek and North River Bridges in Pacific County. MAINTENANCE: No scheduled traffic impacts.

Tips for Driving Through Work Zones

Pay attention - driver inattention is the number one cause of work zone accidents.  Leave room between you and the car ahead of you - most work zone accidents involve someone running into the car ahead of them. Drive defensively - be aware of what is happening around you. Merge into the proper lane before you reach the work zone. Don't use cell phones or adjust your radio while driving through the work zone.  Avoid work zones by using alternate routes.
