Winlock library holding poetry contest

The Winlock Timberland Library will be holding a poetry contest next month and writers of all ages are welcome to participate.

In celebration of April as National Poetry Month, entries will be accepted between April 1 and 15 in four age categories (19 and older, 13-18, 8-12, and 7 and under). Winners in each category will be selected by a panel of judges then published in a special issue of Town Crier. Contest rules include:

- Each entrant can submit up to three poems.

- Poems must have a title and must not exceed 30 lines and 200 words (excluding title).

- Poems must be the original work of the entrant.

It is not necessary to have a Timberland library card to enter. For more information, including complete contest rules, contact the library at (360) 785-3461, or www.TRL.org, or visit their location at 322 NE First St., in Winlock.

Bunco fundraiser for Egg Days and Clean Up the Coop

The Winlock Lionesses and lions will be hosting a Bunco fundraiser Saturday at 6 p.m. in The Community Building to benefit this year’s Egg Days Queen/King contestants and Clean Up the Coop.

The entry fee is $20, which covers the game, food prizes and a raffle ticket. Proceeds will contribute to a $500 award to a participant in the Egg Days court who exemplifies service and ambassadorship, as well as the monthly cleanup projects being organized by the Cleanup Committee.

Lewis County holding health meeting in Winlock

Lewis County Public Health & Social Services will be hosting a public meeting April 1 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Olequa Senior Center to discuss a health survey being conducted for the Lewis County Community Improvement Plan.

Seeking input from residents on "the most pressing issues affecting the health of Lewis County," the meeting will welcome comments from the public, as well as encourage participation in the survey available at lewiscountywa.gov now through April 6.

Craft sale at St. Urban Grange this Saturday

St. Urban Grange will be hosting their annual Fabric, Crafts & More sale Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Available will be fabrics, yarn, notions, collectibles, etc. Donations will benefit the Veterans Quilt Project. For more information, call (360) 785-3366 or (360) 951-3500.

Big book sale this weekend

 

The Association of American University Women will be holding their annual bargain book sale this weekend in Chehalis and community members are invited to come and explore.

Scheduled for this Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and again Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., this vast bargain sale will feature a stockpile of donated books, DVDs, audio books, records, and puzzles. Those who wish to add to the donations are still welcome to do so. Proceeds benefit local AAUW activities.
