Donna Wallace of Donna's Place is having a grand re-opening Mardi Gras theme on the 29th of February, beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a cajun style dinner. Donna purchased the business and building on the 14th of January, 2019. Now, it's Donna's and Donna is here to stay!
Donna took over the restaurant Harry's Place now known as Donna's Place in June of 2017. Since then Donna has changed the menu, added pizza and milkshakes and remodeled the inside. Donna has opened up the back area that was closed off for years. She has put her heart and soul into the restaurant. But what you see on the inside is nothing compared to what she does for the community.
Since Donna has taken over the restaurant, Donna's Place has been the restaurant that helps people. She has done many fundraisers, helping cancer patients and others who suffered emergency medical issues. Donna isn't just a business owner, she is truly a business owner with a heart. Her heart isn't just about the restaurant, you can tell she loves Toledo and the people who come in.
As customers fill in, Donna is always there to welcome them in and have a friendly conversation. She loves her customers and it shows. "I enjoy serving people, I like knowing I made someone's day special whether they have a birthday or just a bad day," said Donna. "I enjoy every customer that comes in, it makes my day to be able to make them smile."
When the two young women in Toledo recently had brain surgery, Donna was the first to call and say "I'm doing a fundraiser, we need to rally behind these girls." Rally is an understatement if you know Donna. From that moment, she was putting up banners on her building, calling others and working hard to help the young women and their families. It wasn't just a fundraiser for Donna, it's a labor of love.
The grand reopening will feature jambalaya and other cajun style food along with live music by Britton Creek Boys. Dinner will start at 5:00 p.m. and reservations are recommended. Costumes are welcome but no masks please. She has been busy remodeling over the weekend, stop in and see what changes Donna has made.
