Teacher and author Maria Luchsinger returned to Raymond Elementary School last Thursday for a writer's workshops for grades 3 to 6, and to read her Sammy the Centipede series books to the Kindergarten through second grade children.
The writer's workshop focused on writing skills and showed the students how to use diagrams to format and brainstorm their ideas for better organization.
Luchsinger grew up in the home of her grandparents, long-time Raymond residents Wilford and Alice Rushing. Her father, Lyle Rushing, also graduated from Raymond High School. Luchsinger has a Bachelor's Degree in elementary education and currently is a substitute teacher for the Everett School District.
