WESTPORT – Pirates of all sizes kicked off summer this weekend in Westport at the 11th Annual Pirate Daze. The nautical invasion began Friday at noon and was in full swing quickly with a few live bands performing and pirates plundering the boardwalk.

State to appeal Jones trial

The Washington State Attorney General’s Office is going to file an appeal to the Supreme Court over an appeals court decision to grant Martin A. Jones a new trial. The state has 30 days to file its petition and there’s no guarantee the case will be heard. If not, the appeals court decision would stand and Jones would get his new trial. If a new trial were granted, everything would start from square one.
