These summer months bring with them a multitude of celebrations; Family reunions, weddings, graduations, and events. These events frequently involve travel. I can see some shoulders rising towards the ears, and hear teeth clenching. During the planning, cleaning, shopping, and cooking, take some time to enjoy the summer. In the Northwest, it’s short enough as it is!
Here are ten easy stress busters that anyone can fit into their day:
Take a tech break. Turn off your phone, TV, laptop, and electronic toys. Enjoy the silence.
Jot down 10 things you are grateful for, followed by 10 things you love.
Chew a stick of gum. Chewing increases blood flow to the brain-who knew?
Walk the beach, a country road, and the perimeter of your yard. The possibilities are endless.
Put on your favorite music. Feel free to dance!
Sit down for a bit outside. Enjoy the birds at the feeder, the bees in the garden, the quiet.
Smell the flowers. Rub the herbs, breathe deeply.
Brew up some up your favorite tea or coffee (hot or iced) and put your feet up.
Write a brief note to a loved one, your new graduate, or a far-away friend.
Find a magazine or book you have been waiting to read, and dive in.
