Two people died in a collision that happened on Friday, February 5 at 4:53 pm on SR 6 at mile post 49, which is about 2 miles west of Chehalis.
Joseph A Schwartz, a 23 year old Pe Ell man, was driving a blue 1989 Mazda pickup traveling eastbound with his passenger Katharina M. McKenna, a 27 year old Chehalis woman. The Washington State Patrol reported that he lost control and slid across the center line into the westbound lane.
The pickup was struck in the passenger side by a yellow 2014 Jeep Wrangler driven by Glennon G. Stinson, a 69 year old Rochester man.
Both Schwartz and McKenna were deceased at the scene. Stinson was transported to Chehalis Providence Hospital with unknown injuries. All three were wearing seatbelts.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol where involved at this time.
No charges have been filed and the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene.
